Alternating Currents Mural Fest is a growing public art initiative rooted in a simple curiosity: what happens when blank walls invite creativity, connection and discovery? Launched in downtown Davenport in 2023, the program returned in 2024 and expanded in 2025 to include murals across Davenport, Bettendorf and Rock Island.

 

Each summer during the Alternating Currents Festival, artists work live on-site, transforming overlooked walls into large-scale public art that lingers long after the music fades. Still in its early years, Mural Fest is becoming a shared, open-air collection of art meant to be stumbled upon, lived with and woven into the everyday rhythm of downtown life.
