Meet the Muralists of Alternating Currents 2026

Every year, Alternating Currents transforms the Quad Cities into a canvas, not only through music, film, comedy, and performance but through large-scale public art. Once complete, these murals will become part of the Quad Cities' growing collection of public art, creating new landmarks for residents and visitors to enjoy.

This year's muralists include internationally recognized artists, regional favorites, and hometown talent. Throughout the festival, you'll have the unique opportunity to watch each mural develop from the very first sketch to the final details. Here's where you can find each artist throughout the festival:

• Atlanta Dawn – 251 Pershing Ave., Davenport (Klemme Motorsports)

• Key Detail – 311 E. 2^nd St., Davenport (Ragged Records/Trash Can Annie)

• WENTPAINT – 1737 Grant St., Bettendorf (My Crystal Portal)

• Brando Punk – 512 24^th St., Rock Island (Bent River Brewing)

Artists will begin painting around August 10 and the murals will continue to evolve throughout Alternating Currents, so don't be afraid to visit each wall more than once.

Atlanta Dawn

Port Byron, Illinois

Quad Cities muralist Atlanta Dawn returns to Alternating Currents after helping launch the festival's original Mini Mural Fest years ago.

Known for blending historical storytelling, traditional sign painting, photorealism, and contemporary design, Atlanta creates site-specific murals that celebrate the identity and history of the places they call home.

This year's project at Klemme Motorsports will draw inspiration from automotive history. It also marks a special return to painting after recently welcoming her third child.

Key Detail (Andrey Kravtsov)

New York

Architect-turned-muralist Key Detail has completed more than 50 large-scale murals throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.

His vibrant work combines imaginative storytelling with themes of history, nature, and human connection. Rich with character and movement, each mural is designed to transform its environment into something memorable and unexpected.

His newest creation will take shape during the festival on the west-facing wall of Trash Can Annie's and Ragged Records in downtown Davenport.

WENTPAINT (Brian Wentworth)

Colchester, Connecticut

Award-winning muralist Brian Wentworth, known professionally as WENTPAINT, specializes in large-scale illustrative realism. His murals combine bold color, dramatic lighting, and intricate spray paint techniques to create artwork that feels deeply connected to the spaces it inhabits.

With murals spanning schools, cafés, businesses, and public spaces throughout the United States and internationally, Wentworth believes great public art should stop people in their tracks from across the street—and reward those who take a closer look.

"I'm excited to continue this journey of creation," he says as he joins Alternating Currents for the first time.

Brando Punk

Quad Cities

Graphic designer, illustrator, and founder of Upside Down Owl Studios, Brando Punk brings bold comic-book energy to public art.

His work combines graphic design, graffiti, pop culture, and street art influences to transform everyday spaces into colorful visual experiences that invite curiosity and conversation.

For Alternating Currents, Brando is creating an original mural featuring his character Sibogu, designed exclusively for the festival. Visitors are encouraged to stop by throughout the weekend to watch the artwork evolve in real time.

Watch Public Art Come to Life

Unlike visiting a gallery, Alternating Currents lets you experience art while it's being created.

Walk past a mural in the morning and you'll see outlines. Come back that afternoon and the colors begin to emerge. Return the next day and you'll discover an entirely different piece than the one you saw just hours before.

No two visits are the same.

Mural Fest is presented through a collaboration between Downtown Davenport Partnership, Downtown Bettendorf Organization, Rock Island Downtown Alliance, and Quad City Arts, with additional support from Altorfer CAT Rentals, Bent River Brewing - Rock Island, Hupp Toyota, and Stecker Graphics.
